Heavy Snow Fall in Jendouba Governorate, Tunisia

The region around Ain Draham, Jendouba Governorate, saw heavy snow fall in February of this year. The region gets snow almost every year, but usually only a few centimetres. This year it was extreme with up to a meter of snow in some regions. Later the region experienced heavy rainfall and together with the melting snow it had to endure flooding and landslides cutting several villages off for days. The inhabitants of the region received a lot of emergency aid from the government but also from Tunisians who drove in convoys to the region to distribute warm clothes, blankets and food.

On a Sunday a Tunisian friend accompanied me to this town in the hills of Northwestern Tunisia. These are some of the pictures of of our trip.
